BredaPhoto festival is a biannual international photo festival in Breda, in the Netherlands. A significant number of outspoken photographers, Dutch and from abroad, exhibited their work outdoors and in art centers in town. In this way BredaPhoto celebrated photography.
BredaPhoto Festival shows the state of the art of contemporary photography based on an internationally relevant social theme. The 2018 title of the festival will be ‘To Infinity and Beyond’.
BredaPhoto wants to know more about the possibilities and impact of ongoing progress in technology and science. Will it bring nothing but progress? Or are we at risk of opening a Pandora’s box full of unwelcome surprises? Photography is a unique medium to visualize how technology and science are fundamentally changing the world around us. Photographers can show us the opportunities, the dangers and the dilemmas. They can show us what’s happening in front of our eyes, or take the liberty to make a careful prediction of what might happen next.
BredaPhoto Festival is organized since 2003 in the city center of Breda, the Netherlands. Offering a mixture of fresh talent and national and international headliners, the festival hosted photographers such as Martin Parr, Carl De Keyzer, Pieter Hugo, Bloomberg and Chanarin, Todd Hido and Yamamoto Masao in past editions. Is has grown to be the largest photo festival in the Benelux.
During seven weeks, the center of Breda and the raw Belcrum area are dedicated to photography. The program consists of lectures, workshops and numerous indoor and outside exhibitions throughout the city. Visitor can grab a bite or drink at the festivalhart (Breda Botanique), and look at photo books or join an event. The outdoor exhibition is free for all visitors.
